Great News!
I announced a few posts ago how I mustered up the courage to send a query letter to an agent requesting representation for my novel. And today the agent e-mailed me asking for the first thirty pages of my manuscript.
Woohoo!
So something in my query letter sparked this agent's interest. She usually requests partials for 1 out of 30 queries. But now comes the real test: Will she like the story? Or will she toss it in the round file beneath her desk?
Time will tell. And it will be a long wait since partials take two months for a response. Meanwhile I'm hard at work on the second novel. And I'm trying really hard not to get my feeble little hopes up.

What fabulous news! Enough to get your hopes up for sure!
So when do WE get to see the first thirty pages, huh? Gonna post em?

If I'm not mistaken posting would be considered publishing, and so I wouldn't want to do that. I bet Ollie is up on all the legalities and consequences of showcasing one's writing on an open forum, so I'll invite him to clue us in.
But if you really want to read the first thirty pages I'll e-mail them to you :)
Here's something freakin' SCARY about the stage I'm in. The agent I sent my patial to claims that she only asks for a full manuscript from 1 in 200 partials that she reads. And that one has a 50/50 shot of getting signed.
Will someone please pass the cyanide?

Congrats! And you've inspired me to plan to write four hours a day (at least) once summer school is over and I buy my new computer. I'm bribing myself--new computer= actual writing.
Best wishes to you! You'll be that 1 in 400!
