Alzheimer's Test...

Count every "F" in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

(SEE BELOW)

HOW MANY ? WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke.

READ IT AGAIN ! Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's. The reasoning is the brain cannot process "OF".

  • Oh, you gotta put more space between the question and the answer. I didn't get a chance to count before I saw how many.

  • I counted 6.

    Because I've seen this before.

  • Ahhh, phooey! I blew it! Sorry.

  • That was pretty clever, but you need to give a better explanation as to WHY the brain doesn't process the "of"s.

  • It is just because of the sound it makes. When one thinks of the "f" sound, one thinks of the standard voiceless linguolabial fricative. But the letter is not the same as its generic consonant sound, so it can take on the voiced linguolabial fricative "v" as well. But your brain processes them as sounds, not as artificial grammarian constructs.

Okay admit it. Who out there did I just impress?
